Alfred E. Smith State Office Building is a 250,000 S.F. administrative building which was renovated with a project cost of $65 million. The historic building was originally constructed in 1926 and had not been upgraded for over 35 years. As part of the State Facilities Modernization Program, the building was rehabilitated to meet tenant requirements and to bring it into conformance with current building codes, and technological advancements. Included in the required upgrades for the building, were structural reinforcements, code compliance modifications, electrical upgrades, modernized elevators, interior architectural finishes, exterior cleaning, window and roof membrane replacements, modernized heating, ventilation and air conditioning, plumbing, and improved security systems.
