YAS recently won ENR’s 2018 Best Project Award of Merit for the new University at Buffalo’s 628,000sf, state-of-the-art Medical School building completed in December of 2017. The awards ceremony took place at the Edison Ballroom in New York City on October 2, 2018.
Located adjacent to the Buffalo Niagara Campus in downtown Buffalo, the new $375 million facility not only aids in the health of New Yorkers but has anchored a lively, urban mixed-use district bringing over 1,500 students, faculty and staff to the downtown area. With the goal of fostering collaboration and interdisciplinary care, the new academic medical school creates connections that allow students, faculty, biomedical researchers and clinicians to move easily from classroom to bedside to lab.
Additionally, the transit hub on the school’s ground floor provides convenient mass transit access, furthering the development of a sustainable, vibrant community. The new building will help spur the economic growth across the state as well as strengthen New York’s academic programs within public universities and colleges.
