Stony Brook University is expanding and improving their Student Services Building as it will house the Office of the Registrar, Bursar’s Office, Office of Student Financial Aid, and Admissions and Counseling Services as well as classrooms, a large lecture hall, multipurpose rooms, auditorium space and a street-front Student Café. Additionally, it will be the new home for student clubs, campus’ student life activities, student media and campus ministry service centers
As a team member on the project, Ysrael A. Seinuk, provided structural engineering services that included replacement of the existing building façade and staircases, an addition of fills to bring the floor areas to the required elevation, and the addition of skylights and floor openings.
Construction of this extensive renovation and addition to the 1960s-era structure began in February 2017 and is expected to be completed in June 2019, with a total cost of $63 million.
